

A beloved father, grandfather, husband and brother, Philip Sheridan passed away on January 27, 2025 at 88 years old. Phil devoted his life to his family. He worked tirelessly fulfilling his dream of owning a farm, raising animals and shared this adventure with those he loved.
Phil, son of Philip A. and Jeanette Sheridan, is survived by his wife of 52 years, Yvonne (Newman) Sheridan; and his sons, Philip with wife Krista, Kevin with wife Hillary, and Brian with wife Kari; seven adoring grandchildren; his brothers, Edward Sheridan with wife Claire, and Robert Sheridan with wife Marion, all of whom he cherished.
Philip was born in Queens, NY on January 15, 1937 and grew up in Bergenfield, NJ where he graduated from high school in 1955. He served in the United States Army and attended Colorado A&M studying agriculture. He moved to Oxford, NY in 1967 to pursue his dream of owning and operating a dairy farm. He simultaneously ran a dairy farm and worked as a tool and die maker at the Amphenol Corporation in Sidney, NY. Phil worked at Amphenol until 2008, retiring at the age 72. Phil instilled in his children the value of hard work. He modeled how to be a loyal and devoted father and husband.
Throughout his entire life, Philips' passion has been working with horses. This love started at his uncle's farm as a teenager. Philip entered the professional rodeo circuit in his twenties as a bareback bronc rider. Later in life, he continued to compete with his horses in various team penning and cutting events while making numerous friends in the horse community. Phil was known for his gentle nature around his animals and his ability to ride the “right way.”
Philip will be forever loved and respected by the many people whose lives he touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday February 1, 2025 at St. Joseph's Parish 3 Scott St. in Oxford, NY. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
