A Beating Heart
Written by Diane Vasquez
He was a beating heart,
a soul so precious and kind,
a gentle spirit who tried and tried
to hold onto life.
Each breath he carried was a gift,
a treasure we cannot keep,
but Roger filled his days with kindness,
a love that ran so deep.
A man who cared for those around him,
who helped whenever he could,
who went above and beyond for others,
with a heart that always understood.
His dear wife, Iris was precious to him,
a love he often shared.
She held a special place within his heart,
a love that showed he cared.
He loved the Yankees,
and the thrill of a scary movie too.
Those sometimes those intense moments
would keep him awake when they were through.
Roger had a humor all his own,
a smile and a gentle way.
A kind and loving soul
who touched lives every day.
And when his journey reached his end,
he did not face that moment alone.
He was surrounded by comfort
of those who truly loved him…
His loved ones were there to bring him peace,
and the staff at Waterville Residential Care Center,
the place he called home,
stood by his side, with kindness and tender care.
They watched over him,
They watched over him,
they cared for his needs,
and gave him comfort
until his final breath was freed.
Though I may not have shared
his every day moments in life,
Roger was never forgotten,
never lost from our hearts or minds.
He remains a memory we treasure,
a soul we will always hold dear,
a man with a loving spirit
who brought kindness while he was here.
Life gives us precious breaths,
moments we cannot reclaim.
Roger was a soul who deserved more time,
yet his love will remain.
The family holds onto hope,
trusting in Jehovah‘s promise true,
that those we have lost
will one day be made new.
Until then, Roger,
you are loved and remembered.
A beating heart,
a gentle soul,
a life that mattered,
a story beautifully told.
We love you, Roger Delgado.
Your family and friends
will always carry
your memory.
