Ruth E. Hunter

Ruthie E. Hunter 85, born April 19, 1940 passed away peacefully at Hamilton Memorial Hospital on January 14,2026 with her loving family by her side. On July 5th,1958 She married the love of her life Lawrance "Larry" E. Hunter, they shared 58 years together until Larry’s passing. Ruthie was a spitfire and her smile lit up a room, but more than anything she was a loving mother to her 5 children and a devoted grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Ruthie loved music and dancing. One of her favorite things to do was going out to listen to her husband's band play and dancing the two step the polka square dancing and doing the waltz with all her children. Ruthie was an excellent cook and baker and she spent lots of time sharing that skill with her children and grandchildren. Ruthie spent the summers on Oneida Lake at their camp in Sylvan Beach with their children and grandchildren making lots of memories and being able to sail Oneida Lake. Ruthie and her husband were lifelong residents of Sherburne NY where they raised their 5 children. Ruthie was well known as Mom by many of her children’s friends as her and Larry loved everyone's kids. They even called each other Mom and Dad. For the last 10 years Ruthie has resided with her loving daughter Kimberly Hunter alongside her granddaughter Brooke Slater who always made sure Ruthie was well taken care of.

Ruthie is survived by four of her children Larry “Little Larry” Hunter, Carl “CJ” (Doris McMitt) Hunter, Shannon Hunter, and a daughter Kimberly (Kimmie) Hunter, grandchildren Courtney (Rich) Fargnoli, Carley Hunter, Sierra Hunter, Savanna (Dustin) Brooks, Sarah Hunter (Chris Lockwood), Garrett Hunter, Anna Hunter, Brittany (Steve) Palmer, Brooke Slater, Brennan Slater, Shay Amidon, Cody Amidon, Hunter Sherman, Jaykiah Hunter and keyan Hunter and her 23 great grandchildren that she adored and spent a lot of time with. Ruthie was predeceased by her son Timothy Hunter and grandson Logan Hunter and her sister Lee Delrymple.
