

Sheryl Lee Davis, 71, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at the PAM Health Specialty Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Born Sheryl Lee Barkley on March 20, 1952 in Norwich, NY, she was the daughter of Beverly (Ireland) and Gage Barkley, Jr. She attended South New Berlin and Norwich City Schools, graduating from Norwich with the class of 1970.
Sheryl worked at various places in Chenango County including: Victory Markets, Norwich Shoe Company, DCMO BOCES and Meeting Management Associates, from which she retired.
In life, Sheryl was an avid reader, photographer, bowler, softball player, scrapbooker, gardener and bargain hunter. She loved traveling and spending time with friends and family and was always ready to help anyone who needed an extra hand. She could often be found at the YMCA, concerts (especially her son’s), Weight Watcher’s meetings, helping at the Artist’s Palette, the Pink Door, the Special Olympics and Ashby Ann, or enjoying a good meal in town with one of her besties. Sheryl will be remembered for her generosity, commitment to her family and friends, her goofy, fun and boisterous personality, her strong work ethic and especially her motherly advice.
Sheryl is survived by her husband of 50 years, Guy Davis; her children, Mike Davis, of Norwich, and Ben (Terah) Davis, of Auburn, WA; her granddaughter, Millie McKeon; her sisters, Mary Ann (Reg) Vidler, of Norwich, and Deborah (Joe) Loewenstein, of Cincinnati, OH; her brothers, Gary (Judy) Barkley, Gordon (Susan) Barkley, of Norwich, and Terry (Barb) Barkley, of Utica; her nieces and nephews who meant the world to her, Shanee (Eric) Lomauro, Kirstin (Chris) Vidler-Mackey, Jessica (Robert) Hoople, Cole (Beth) Barkley, Julia (Justin) Herring, Michael Loewenstein, Andrew (Brittany) Loewenstein, Hannah Loewenstein, Peter (Vanessa) Desarro, Marie (Bug) Loughren; she was a FAVORITE great-aunt to Maleah, Nick, Mike, Kaiden, Kori, Owen, Grace, Ava, Redford, Levi, Anthony and Mya. She is also survived by her uncle Jack Parker (Alice Fazio); her aunts, Peggy Parker and Peggy Loucks, all of Florida; her sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Desarro, of Norwich; her brother-in-law, Bob (Donna) Davis, of Florida; and countless special friends and family members who played an important part in her life.
Sheryl was predeceased by her mother, Beverly Streichert; her father, Gage Barkley, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Stan and Margaret Parker; her in-laws, Ruth and Merville Davis; as well as her uncles, Jerry Parker and Ronnie Loucks.
Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich, NY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00am with a service held at 1:00pm with Pastor Linda Powell-Owens officiating. Committal services will be held at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sheryl’s memory may be made to The American Heart Association at www.heart.org or to The Norwich YMCA Scholarship Fund, 68 North Broad St, Norwich, NY 13815.
