Vandel Bullman, 66, of Norwich, passed away on Thursday, December 19th. He was born in Asheville, NC on September 1, 1953 to the late Van and Lola Bullman. He is survived by his sister, Teresa Lee Wilson, of Asheville; his nephew, Aaron Wilson, of Asheville; and his good friends, William and Joan Cluff, of Oxford, and Rick and Karen Ingraham, of Norwich.
Van graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1971 and went on to further his education at Apalachin State University, graduating with a Master’s degree in Science. He then went on to teach junior high school in Miami before returning to North Carolina and teaching at Brevard High School. Vandel then gained employment at S.W. Louisiana University as a Research Teacher Assistant before relocating to Norwich and working at Proctor & Gamble as a Senior Scientist for the remainder of his career.
In his early years, Vandel enjoyed scuba diving and co sponsored a scuba club in Miami. He also enjoyed hiking in the mountains of North Carolina and the Adirondacks, down-hill skiing, bowling, motorcycling and was a member of the Norwich Elks BPOE 1222.
Funeral services will take place at 6:00 pm on Monday, December 30th at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Jeremy Stopford officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at North Norwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
