Victoria N. (“Vicki”) Gray, a longtime resident of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal, NY, following a lengthy and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 80 years old.
Vicki was born in Oneida, NY, on December 16, 1942, the daughter of William R. and Doris (Grems) Noel. She was raised in Hamilton, NY, where she attended the Hamilton Central Schools. Following her graduation in 1960, she attended the Utica School of Commerce. On May 7, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gary N. Gray, Jr., of Sidney, NY, who predeceased her just two weeks earlier on October 16, 2023.
Vicki began her career with the National Bank & Trust Company (now NBT Bank), where she met Gary. After taking time off for several years to be a homemaker and raise her children, Vicki worked for many years at the Guernsey Memorial Library in Norwich, followed by a lengthy employment at GHS Federal Credit Union in Norwich. Vicki returned to work at NBT Bank for a few years before retiring. She was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ First Congregational, a former member of the Norwich Jaycees, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES). In retirement, Vicki enjoyed traveling, volunteering at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich and the Our Daily Bread Food Closet at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich.
Vicki is survived by her sons Jeffrey Gray of Holbrook, AZ, and Christopher (Karen) Gray of New Rochelle, NY; and her grandchildren Meredith Gray, Spencer Gray, Hagen Gray and Lyric Gray. Also surviving is her sister Vivyann (Carl) Carroccio of Hamilton, NY, along with nieces and nephews. Vicki was predeceased by her grandson, David L.J. Gray.
A funeral service for Vicki will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 11:00 a.m. from the United Church of Christ First Congregational of Norwich. The Rev. Jason Boyd, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
