William G. Ballard

On August 29, 1959, in Hamilton, NY he married Sandra Mathey Ballard, daughter of Jacob Joseph Mathey and Doris Eileen Nichols Mathey. The couple have four children, Susan Lee (Theodore) Wilson of Tullahoma, TN; William Jacob Ballard and friend, Johanna Kolis of Norwich, NY; David Gerald (Mary Ellen Clark) Ballard of Orlando, FL; and Pamela Eileen (Jamie) Monica of Redwood, NY. The couple also has eleven much loved grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Darlene) Ballard, of Lebanon Reservoir, NY.

William was a graduate of Earlville Central School, St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math & Physics, and Clarkson University with a Master’s Degrees in both Physics & Industrial Engineering. He started his own company, Norwich Aero Products, of which he was the CEO for many years. He was also active in St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford, NY, the Oxford School Board, the Norwich Chamber of Commerce, the Board of the Norwich Hospital, and the Board of the Norwich Antique Car Museum. He and Sandra climbed all 46 mountains in the Adirondacks and he authored a book on their 46er experience entitled “Of Mountain Men and Women”.

A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
