Bill was born in Brooklyn on July 8, 1938 the son of August and Gertrude (Connelly) Morris. He grew up in Brooklyn where he attended the local schools. Following his education, Bill entered the military serving his country from 1958 - 1961. In the mid 1960’s he moved to the Norwich area and gained employment with John Baker where he worked as a mechanic for a period of about 10 years. Bill then gained employment with Chrisman Motors/McCredy Motors for a period of about 20 years until his health issues began to take over.
Bill was a true gun enthusiast. He enjoyed working and repairing firearms and had begun lessons to become a gunsmith. He enjoyed his homes and spending time at home with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife Nancy of Norwich, children William Morris, Jr., Patrick (Cindy) Morris and Kevin (Mary) Morris, step-children Robert (Vay) Hammond and Christine (David) Carle, 9 grandchildren along with his siblings Patricia Biggs, Eileen Risi and Peggy Firello. A niece and nephew also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill was held on Tuesday, February 20, at 11:00 am from St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, Pastor officiated. Burial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were by the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
