Anne S. Carey

Born in 1923 in Newton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Miriam (Perkins) Shaw and beloved wife of the late John Carey. Loving mother of: Judy Mealey of Westfield and her husband Kevin, David Carey of Hamilton and his wife Elaine, Edward Carey of Westport and his wife Susanne, Leslie Powers of Norwood, Alan Carey of Hollis, NH and his wife Suzannah and Beth Raymond of Foxboro. Cherished sister of Milton Shaw of Medfield, the late Alan Shaw of Walpole and the late Raymond Shaw of Vernon, CT. Anne is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Anne graduated from American International College in 1945 and married John Carey in 1946. She worked for the Camp Fire Girls and was a substitute teacher in the Norwood Public school system while raising her 6 children. She was active in the League of Women Voters and enjoyed hiking, birding and mycological studies with her husband. Always an active member of her church, in her later years she was also a volunteer with meals on wheels.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 19th at 2PM at the First Congregational Church, Winter and Walpole Streets, Norwood. All are welcome.
