Anne (Kolisnyk) Turchan

Anne (Kolisnyk) Turchan, age 102, of Norwood, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at home.
She was born September 14, 1918, in East Taunton, a daughter of Alek and Mary (Dudar) Kolisynk. Mrs. Turchan was raised in Woonsocket, RI, and graduated from Dean College. She and her husband, John, started their family in Roxbury before settling in Norwood in 1951.
She was former long-time member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Andrew. Mrs. Turchan was devoted to the church and volunteered with their annual events. She was a member of the church’s St. Olha’s Sisterhood and also loved to sing with their choir. She and her husband, John, founded the Norwood Tennis Club and she was an instructor for many years. They were honored by the Norwood Recreation Department with a public acknowledgement and award of their dedication to the community.
Mrs. Turchan was a talented seamstress who took pride in assisting family members and friends with alterations, and creating many thoughtful and intricate treasures, from clothing to needlepoint. She was an avid gardener and skilled cook. She loved to host many family gatherings for special occasions and holidays.
Devoted mother of Paul Turchan and his wife Jean of Norwood, John Turchan and his wife Felicia of Stoughton, Joanne Stelma and her husband Walter of Harwich; loving grandmother of Beth Ann, Gregory, Lauren, Keith, Diana, Michael; proud great-grandmother of Jacob, Emma, Sophia, Lorelei, and Mia.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of seventy years, John S. Turchan, in 2011; also by her son, Michael Turchan, by her sisters, Stephanie Kolisnyk, Patricia Brown, and by her brother, Paul Kolisnyk, who was killed during WWII.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, from 9:30-11AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
