Barbara A. Burke

BURKE, Barbara A. (Harris) of Norfolk, passed away at her home on Friday June 27, 2025.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Sullivan) Harris. Barbara attended Boston State College and after earning her Masters in Education, went on to become a school teacher, first in Norwood at the Callahan School and for the remainder of her career in Norfolk at the Freeman-Centennial School. She was an avid reader, adored her grandchildren and loved spending time in the mountains at her house in Maine. She had a quick wit and infectious laugh.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Richard Burke, and the devoted mother of Ann and her husband Raymond Vinton of Norwell, and Sarah Burke and her fiancee Greg Borges of Methuen. She was the sister of Judy and her husband David MacLean, Joanne and her husband Doug Davis, Jackie and her husband Ed Graham, Jane and her husband Rick Morrison, John Harris, Jill Harris, Matt Harris and his wife Kate. Barbara was the proud grandmother of Sean and Connor Vinton of Norwell, and is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Saturday July 12, from 2-4 PM followed by a Memorial Service which will begin at 4 PM.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Barbara's memory to the charity of your choice.
