Catherine G. Lightizer

Catherine G. (Morelli) Lightizer, 85, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Born in Norwood on January 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Margaret (Gorham) Morelli. Catherine graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton with the Class of 1947. Primarily a homemaker, Catherine worked at HESSCO Elder Services for 22 years prior to her retirement. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late James A. Lightizer; the loving mother of Peggi and her husband, Thomas Burkholder, of Bellingham, Robert Lightizer and his wife, Marge of Portsmouth, NH, Barbara Lightizer of Walpole, John Lightizer of Norwood, Janet Lightizer and her husband, Jack Heslin of Walpole, the late Thomas Lightizer and her “Scottish children,” Margaret and Alex Campbell of Stoughton; the sister-in-law of Anna Backman of Florida; the cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and the aunt of a niece and a nephew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at 10:30 AM from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, September 26, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
