Christopher John Taggart, Sr., of Norwood, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born and raised in Norwood, Chris was a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1987, and remained deeply connected throughout his life to the community he proudly called home.
Chris was a hardworking, disciplined man — a jack of all trades and master of none. Most recently, he proudly served as the Account "Super” at the Norwood Housing Authority. A natural problem solver and self-proclaimed life coach, Chris had a talent for figuring things out, getting things done, and leading by example. He was always willing to lend a hand whenever someone needed it.
Above all else, Chris was devoted to his family and the people he loved. He possessed a rare gift for turning friendships into family. Built on a foundation of loyalty, trust, laughter, and simply being there when it mattered, his relationships were deep and genuine. He was the person you could call, the person who showed up, and the person you knew had your back. Many of his closest friends were like brothers, and their families became an extension of his own. He gave freely of his time, his advice, and himself.
Chris found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: a good fire, a day at the camper, being out on the boat, a round of golf, and time spent surrounded by family and friends. He didn't need much to be happy, so long as the people he loved were close by. His most precious moments were those spent with his wife and three children; especially, his brilliant son Jack and twinkle of his eye, Emma, as well as his partner in crime, Chris Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Marci (Mackey) Taggart, and his three children, Christopher Jr. (Alyssa), Jack, and Emma, all of whom he was immensely proud of. He was the proud brother of James Taggart (Teresea) of Hingham and Robert Taggart of Norwood; and brother-in-law of Brian Mackey (Trysha) of Easton and Susan Mackey (Steve) of Norton. He’s survived by his mother Carolann (Cady) Pratt (Dan) of Scottsdale, Arizona and was preceded in death by his father, James Hilton Taggart of Holbrook.
Chris leaves behind a legacy defined by family, friendship, hard work, and an unwavering willingness to carry not only his share, but often the burdens of those around him. His sudden passing leaves an immeasurable hole, but his strength, humor, loyalty, generosity, and unmistakable charm will live on through his family and the lifelong friendships he built.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, (Rte. 1A) NORWOOD, on Thursday September 17, 2026 from 3-7 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood on Friday September 18, 2026 at 11:30 AM.
