Age 94, of Franklin, and formerly of Woburn, passed away Saturday October 17, 2020.
Born February 27, 1926 in Boston, she was the daughter of George Joseph and Alberta Evelyn (Davenport) Lambert. Jean was raised and educated in Dedham. She attended Northeastern University and worked at Dedham Land Court and then the former Ginn & Co., now Xerox, until her retirement forty years ago.
She is survived by her 8 nieces and nephews Magee Lambert and her husband Bradlee Gustavesen of Upton, Charles Lambert and Ellen Lambert (recently deceased) of Franklin, Michael Lambert and his wife Lisa of Coronado, CA, Edward Lambert of Fredericksburg, VA, Sue Lambert of Boston, Maura Pothier and her husband Eric of Plano, TX, Richard Lambert and his wife Patricia of Scituate, and Barbara Lambert of Quincy. She is also survived by 11 Grand nieces and nephews. Jean is survived by her sister’s in-law Rita Lambert Cronan of Port Charlotte, FL and Cynthia Lambert of Scituate.
Jean is predeceased by her husband William E. Conway (Bill), brothers George H. Lambert of Norwood, Richard W. Lambert of Scituate and niece, Carolyn A. Lambert of Scituate.
Jean sang in the choir for St. Brigid of Lexington and loved music so much that she would constantly be heard humming or singing. She was a member of the Dedham Historical Society, and Irish Cultural Centre of Canton, MA. She was affectionately known by her nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews as AJ (Aunt Jean) or Aunt Purple due to her love of her signature color. Anyone who struck up a conversation with AJ knew that she had a vast knowledge of any subject that was current in the news.
Many happy vacations were spent in Eliot, ME at Jean and Bill’s summer home on the Piscataqua River, that she and Bill were kind enough to share with family—enjoying the beach at Ogunquit, ice cream at Barnacle Billy’s, walks along the Marginal Way, and lobster and clam dinners on the front porch. AJ and Bill spent most major holidays with their nieces and nephews as they grew up, especially Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas. They were early adopters of home movie cameras documenting holidays and vacations resulting in a treasure trove of family moments on film over the years.
A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
