Dorothy (Sweetsir) Kelliher, 88, of Norwood passed away December 20, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. Born April 28, 1932 to Clarence and Gladys (Grover) Sweetsir. Dorothy was born and raised in Hyde Park. She went on to move to Norwood after marrying her adored Malachy in 1954.
Dorothy made her home and lovingly raised four children and cared for many others, including her many grandchildren. In later years, she was actively involved in the Norwood Senior Center and volunteered at the Pine Street Inn. Dotty met her great grandchild; saw a granddaughter get engaged to a wonderful, kind, loving man; and was reunited with her true love. She may well have described this as the best Christmas ever.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Malachy Kelliher. She was the loving mother of Timothy Kelliher and his wife Patricia of Plymouth, James Kelliher and his wife Carol, Debora Clarke and her husband Jeffrey, all of Norwood, and Malachy Kelliher of North Attleboro; cherished Nana of Katelyn, Martin, Maeghan, Stacey and Brian Kelliher, Jeffrey and his wife Michelle, Daniel, Michael and Melissa Clarke, and Jennifer and Malachy Kelliher III; great grandmother of Malachy Kelliher IV and Rylee Clarke; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was pre deceased by her caring siblings Walter Sweetsir, Ralph Hurlbert and Edna Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s honor to Friends of the Norwood Council on Aging, 275 Prospect St., Norwood, MA 02062.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Norwood, Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11:00am, with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
