Edward Joseph Twomey

December 27, 1942August 16, 2019

Edward Joseph Twomey was born in Norwood to Jeremiah and Taimi (Routsala) Twomey. Joey grew up in Norwood with his siblings, Henry, Arthur, Timmy, Marie, Roberta, and Donnie and also had fun with half-brother John. After high school, Joey enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1961 until 1966 as a sonar technician. When he returned home to Norwood, he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Jessick. Joey worked and retired as an employee representative for Polaroid Corporation. As he was also known, Ed organized and bowled with the Polaroid bowling league for many years.

Joey was a proud member of the Norwood Colonial Boys Fife & Drum Corps who were, and still are, the highlight of many parades. Joey was funny and loved to tell stories on anything from his first visit to Ireland to politics and Polaroid. He was a sports enthusiast and was particularly passionate about all of the New England professional sports teams. For the last 40 years at his home in Brockton, you would often find him yelling at the television over one play or another.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of 50 years, Mary Ann; siblings, Timmy and Roberta; brothers-in-law, Dennis and James Jessick. He was godfather to Kristen DeFranco and Renee Mureddu. He is also survived by cousins, many nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He will be sorely missed by his canine companion Rubi.

Joey was predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah and Taimi Twomey, and siblings, Henry, Arthur, Donnie, Marie and John; his parents-in-law, Edward and Pauline Jessick, sister-in-law, Arlene Purpura, and brother-in-law, Edward, Jr.
