Gerri’s greatest passion in life was her family. Her favorite moments were always spending time with her children and grandchildren whether attending their school functions, sporting events, vacationing at New Seabury in the summer or going on many memorable family trips to Disney World - family was the most important thing to her. She was a proud graduate of Boston College class of 1958, receiving her BSN degree in nursing.
Gerri worked for Mass General Hospital as a nurse on the recovery floor before starting her family. Later in life, she practiced private duty care for elderly patients. She loved spending her days tending to her garden, relentlessly supported her beloved Boston Red Sox and shared her great love of being Irish with all who knew her. Known for her ‘quiet’ Irish whisper, she will always be remembered for her quick wit and lighthearted demeanor.
Gerri was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years Joseph Lynch as well as her son Joseph Lynch Jr., sisters, Patricia Samodelov, Virginia Coghlan, Helen Kiddy, and brother, Edward M. Coghlan Jr.
She is survived by her loving children, Alicia Gibson and her husband Lee of Norfolk, Edward Lynch and his wife Allysen of Franklin, and Susan Ledwith and her husband Robert of Walpole; her adored 10 grandchildren and her cherished 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Mary C. and her husband Mark Reed of Hilton Head Island, SC.
Services will be held through Gillooly Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Jude’s Church in Norfolk on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerri’s memory to Old Colony Hospice & Palliative Care 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 https://www.oldcolonyhospice.org
