Helen Karas

She was born on November 9, 1937 in Boston, the daughter of Nicholas George and Demetra (Hatzidakis) Soukaras. Mrs. Karas was raised and educated in South Boston and moved to Norwood in 1964. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs and her family.

Survived by sons, Joseph McDermott and his wife Anne of Plymouth, Michael McDermott and his wife Lissa of East Walpole; grandchildren, Nicole McDermott of Taunton, Jacqueline McDermott of Crawfordsville, IN, Kristin Malek and her husband David of Lincoln, NE, Michael McDermott, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Bowie, MD; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Bella. She was predeceased by her husband of 17 years, Michael T. Pipinos, in 2015.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 18, from 4-8PM at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Route 1A), Norwood. Funeral services will be held at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, WV, with interment to follow.
