Irene K. Alexander, age 88, died January 21 at Sunrise Senior Living in Norwood, where she had lived for the past three years. She was born in Acushnet, MA. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Boston University, she received degrees from Columbia University and Yale Law School. She worked as an attorney in New York City and Washington, DC prior to becoming Clerk, Treasurer, and Assessor of the Village of Lloyd Harbor in Huntington, Long Island, a position she held for 31 years. The author of “A History of the Incorporated Village of Lloyd Harbor, 1926-1976,” she also researched and co-authored the book “Architectural and Engineering Law.”
She is survived by her daughter Andrea A. Clark and son-in-law Dr. Bernard A. Clark III of Glastonbury, CT and her daughter April A. Cushing of Norwood, MA. She also leaves two grandsons, Alexander D. Clark and his wife Natalia Martinez of New York, NY and Spencer A. Clark of Stanford, CA, and four granddaughters, Elizabeth A. Cushing of Allston, MA, Abigail L. Cushing of London, England, Catherine E. Cushing of Boston, MA and Anne A. Cushing of Providence, RI. She is predeceased by her parents, Martin and Apolonia (Prazuch) Kon, her former husband Dr. John T. Alexander, and a grandson, Wesley A. Clark.
