Jane Winifred (Kane) Giblin, age 68, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, due to complications of medical conditions. She was the wife of the late Gerard F. Giblin. Jane is survived by her daughter, Jennie R. Raymond of Webster; her three sons, Matthew J. Giblin of Winchester, Gerard M. Giblin of West Roxbury, and Francis E. Giblin of Walpole; her brothers William Kane of Canton and Phillip Kane of Plymouth; her sister, Betsy Doyle of Weymouth; and her loving and loyal companion, Yoshi. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Loud.
Born in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Alberta F. (Matthews) Kane. Jane graduated from Mission High and lived briefly in Hyde Park after getting married. Jane and Gerry moved to Norwood to raise their family where she became a lifelong member of the community. Jane was an active member at St. Timothy’s Parish, was a former president of the Norwood Parents Music Association, and attended every event her children participated in. In her free time Jane loved reading and creating beautiful, embroidered clothing as well as blankets, quilts, and other crafts.
Jane worked as a Boston Public Schools clerk for over 20 years, but her biggest accomplishment was being the proud and loving mother of her four children and spoiling her grandchildren every chance she could.
Services will be held at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary’s Parish, 845 High St, WESTWOOD at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be at the Gillooly Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-7 PM. Interment Highland Cemetery, NORWOOD.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jane’s name can be made out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
