OBITUARY
Joseph Noel Doyle
December 25, 1916 – July 22, 2014
Joseph Noel “Noel” Doyle, 97, a Norwood resident since 1952, passed away peacefully at his home on July 22nd. Born in Woonsocket, RI on December 25, 1916, he graduated from Providence College in 1939. He served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. While serving, he met his wife who served in the Navy Nurse Corps. He was active in all the sports and activities in which his 7 children participated. In the late 1950’s he was one of the founding father s of Norwood Pee Wee Hockey. He attended his sons’ countless high school and college hockey games and golf matches. Being a great baseball player himself, he was an avid Red Sox fan. After retiring, he took up golf and spent many happy hours on the links through the age of 92. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood. Noel was the beloved husband of the late Mabel Lorraine (Broussard) Doyle; the loving father of Noel Doyle and his wife, Penny of CA, Diane and her husband John Skilling of Moultonborough, NH, Allen Doyle and his wife, Kate of GA, Denise Doyle of Meredith, NH, James Doyle and his wife, Jeanne, with whom he lived in Norwood, Joanne and her husband, James Joy, and Karen and her husband, Bernard Robinson, all of Meredith; the dear brother of his 101 year old sister, Mary Clare Doyle of Meredith; the cherished “Poppy” of 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 9:00 AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., NORWOOD followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood . Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 25, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Noel’s memory to Steward Home Care Hospice, 30 Perwal St., Westwood, MA 02090. Arrangements under the direction of Gillooly Funeral Home, Norwood, MA.

Hi Joanne and all the Doyles,
So sorry to hear of Mr. Doyle's passing. I have so many memories of him, skating on the ponds and hockey. He and my Dad were just good pals. I remember Noel around the house when Joanne and I would be hanging out there.

Please now how sorry we are to learn of your father's passing. He was always at St Catherine"s and often visited your Mother's grave at Highland cemetery.
