Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Brighton, the son of the late John Halpin and Anna (McCarthy), he was the beloved husband of 62 years, of C. Ruth (Kelly) of Norwood, loving father of Nancy and her husband Dr. Peter Lydon of Norfolk and Michael Halpin of Norwood, cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, Christine, Michael, Patrick, Shannon and the late Caitlin Lydon, and the devoted brother of Hope Kearney of Norwood and the late Virginia Pederson, William, John and Anne Halpin, and the uncle of several nieces and nephews. He served as veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as an accountant for many years at the MBTA in Boston.
Funeral Services will be held on Mon., Dec. 24, at 8 AM from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sun., Dec. 23, from 3-5 PM.
