

Lois H Knight of Boston and Cotuit, MA, clinical professor emeritus of law in the Civil Litigation Program at Boston University School of Law, died August 15,2015 at Brigham and Womens Hospital after a valiant two-year struggle with cancer. Lois retired in May 2014 after 37 years on the BU Law faculty. Earlier she had earned a B.S. from Tufts University and a J.D. from Georgetown University and served as a Vista staff attorney for Cape Cod and the Islands and was assistant regional council for the Department of Public Welfare in Boston.
Since 1995, she was the director at the BU Law School of the Clinical and Advocacy programs. She received the Silver Shingles Alumnae Award in April 2003 for Distinguished Service to the B.U. School of Law.
Lois was born in Washington, D.C. in 1948. She was the daughter of the late Alfred C. Knight, former Judge of the Barnstable County (MA) Probate Court and Ruth I. Knight. Lois is survived by a brother, Alfred C. Knight of Old Greenwich, CT, a sister, Laurel K. Cobb and her husband Dr. J. Stanley Cobb of Mitchellville, MD; a nephew Dr. Nathan Cobb and his wife Kyle and daughter Eliza of Washington D.C.; and by a niece Lisa Cobb and her husband Grant Gross and son Noah of Laurel, MD.
Lois greatly loved life, her family, her students, her many friends, her church, travel and the opera. She was a wonderful and dearly loved daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to the so many she loved and who loved her. She will be deeply missed and remembered with love and gratitude for her life of service and love for family, friends and her profession.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on September 26 at Old South Church, 645 Boylston Street, Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Old South Church.
