Lucy Marie Reardon died peacefully on August 9, 2025. Born in Montreal in 1931, her family moved to Providence, Rhode Island when she was three years old. She attended Providence public schools, and upon graduation from Central High School, worked as a dental assistant in Providence.
She met John "Jack" Reardon and married in 1958. They settled in Norwood, Massachusetts where they raised three sons. Lucy was a devoted mother who lived frugally while selflessly providing for her family. She also continued to support her mother and siblings. She had a successful millinery business, which she conducted from our home. Not only was Mom a talented figure skater, teaching her sons how to skate, but she enjoyed showcasing our yard in Norwood with meticulously cared-for gardens, flowers, and trees. She was very proud of winning second place in Norwood’s home gardening contest, celebrating Norwood’s 1976 centennial.
Lucy enjoyed her Italian heritage, often cooking a big batch of spaghetti sauce with all the fixings to serve to her family.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Madeline and Ernest; her siblings Raymond, Lily, Leena, Norma, and Gloria; her husband John, and her youngest son Bobby. Lucy is survived by her sons Jack Jr., and David and his wife MaryBeth; her grandchildren, Meaghan, Delaney and her husband Gus, Calleigh, Elizabeth, Patrick and his wife Chandler, Joe and his wife Julianna and Samantha; and her great-grandchildren, Lila, Lana, and Roman.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in Newton for their care and kindness.
Mom was proud of her children and our accomplishments; and we are grateful for all she did and sacrificed on our behalf. Known for having fun and a good laugh, she will be dearly missed.
Mom, may you rest in peace.
Services are private and in the care of Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood.
