

PICKERING, Marc Emmanuel, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 on his 88th birthday. Born in Jacmel Haiti, Marc was the son of Edouard Pickering and Carmen Cayo. He was the beloved husband of the late Vanette (Anglade) Pickering; the loving father of Alexandra and her husband, Lionel Joseph of Norwood and Yves-Edouard Pickering and his wife, Octavia of Anchorage, AK; the cherished grandfather of Priscille, Claudine, Murielle and Jonathan; the dear brother of Solange Bourget-Cayo of Florida and Haiti, Ginette Tertulien of Miami, FL, and Bernadette Pickering-Bourdeau of Montreal; and the adored uncle of Frantz Bourget, Ghyslaine Anglade, Debbie Hamilton, Carole Anglade, Agathe Bourget, Jean-Claude Cayo, Claudette Laurore and Annette Saint-Jean. Marc was a civil engineer with Haiti ministry of public works and the firm Brown & Root in Haiti for several years but spent most of his career, over 30 years teaching in the Congo as well as working in construction consulting and contracting in central and east Africa until 1993. He relocated to the US to be near family and spent almost another 10 years as a substitute teacher in the Boston Public Schools. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24th, at 1:00 PM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24th, prior to the Mass from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
