

Margaret M. “Peggy” (Brannelly) Greenwood, age 83, of Franklin, formerly of Harwich Port, Walpole, and Norwood, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Brannelly and Margaret (Magee) Brannelly.
Peggy was a graduate of Norwood High School and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton. She had a long and impactful career as a nurse at several local medical facilities, including Norwood Hospital, Maple Grove Nursing Home, and ENT Specialists. Peggy had a true talent for knitting, though her lifelong passion was reading. She could often be found immersed in a book or her Kindle at any time, anywhere, but especially on the beach or at The Landing. She and Danny Sr. spent many wonderful years on Zylpha Road in Harwich Port, hosting family and friends at the beach or on their deck. Her unique stories, sense of humor, and signature dishes will be fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to have enjoyed Peggy’s company as well as the best stuffed quahogs in the World.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Daniel E. Greenwood, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
She was the devoted mother of Maribeth Mathias of North Attleboro; Sandy Stanton and her husband, Richard, of Franklin; and Danny Greenwood, and his wife, Karen, of Hopkinton.
She was the loving sister of her twin, Tommy Brannelly, of Falmouth; Maureen Keller of Hamilton, New Jersey; Ann O’Neil of Needham; Clare O’Leary of Taunton; Michael Brannelly of Westwood; and Brian Brannelly of Franklin.
Proud grandmother of Jonathan Mathias; Emily, Richie, and Molly Stanton; Tess and Callum Greenwood; Also, the great-grandmother of Julian Zimmerly. Margaret was predeceased by her grandson Patrick Mathias. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, the services will be held privately with the assistance of Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD.
