Mary E. Flaherty

Mary Elizabeth Flaherty, 91, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014. Born in Norwood on April 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kearns) Flaherty. She was predeceased by her sisters Margaret and Catherine Flaherty and her brother John. Mary will be sadly missed by several cousins and friends in Norwood, Quincy, Weymouth, Milton and Manchester, NH. Mary graduated from St. Catherine of Siena School in 1938, Norwood High School in 1941 and the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She was of member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and its Ladies Sodality and worked in the emergency room at Boston City Hospital for many years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at 8:00 AM from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, September 26, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
