Norma C. Herig

Norma C. (Ernst) Herig, of Norwood passed away on Thursday July 16, 2026. She was 95.

Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Ernst and Edna (Dunn) Ernst Irving. Norma was a graduate of Somerville High School, and went on to graduate from Cambridge City School of Nursing. She worked as a Nurse for the Town of Norwood Health Department for nearly forty years. Norma was an award-winning painter, and enjoyed knitting and traveling. She served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine of Siena Parish.

Norma was the beloved wife of 39 years of the late Edwin Herig, Jr. She was the sister of William T. Irving and his wife Patricia of Taunton, and Carol Whyte of Hingham and her late husband Stephen Whyte. Norma was the cousin of Ronald Duke, Wayne Dunn, Marilyn Dunn, and the late Robert Duke, Robert Hurd, Dorothy (Duke) Andrews, Chester Dunn, and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Friday July 24, from 9:30-10:30 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
