Robert L. Rowan

Bob was the beloved husband of Anne M. (Barry) Rowan; devoted father of George J. Rowan and his wife Lynn of Walpole, and Robert L. Rowan Jr and his wife Marie of Norwood; cherished grandfather of Joseph and John; dear brother of the late Kenneth Rowan and the late Barbara McCauley; brother-in-law to Helen and Robert Murray and Virginia and John Gillis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a graduate of Roslindale High class of 1943, a WWII US Navy veteran and graduate of Boston College class of 1950. Following a long career as a salesman for Sentry Insurance Bob became an avid golfer. He was a long time Norwood town meeting member, past president of the Parents Music Association, a member of the Lions Club and the Norwood Retired Men’s Club, and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 – 7:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Steward Home Care Hospice, 30 Perwal St., Westwood, MA 02090, or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
