Rogelio "Roger" Perez Japlit of Norwood passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was 84.
Born in Batangas City, Philippines, he was the son of the late Florencio Japlit and Juliana (Perez) Japlit. Rogelio is survived by his beloved wife Wilhelmina (Aquino) Japlit of Norwood, and the devoted father of Melanie Kasdon (and husband Henry) and Neil Japlit (and partner Erika). He was the proud grandfather of Kaya, Erik, Clover, Olivia and Charlie, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is also survived by his siblings Gloria, Marte (Rosie), Aurora (Ferdinand), Proserfina, and Nestor (Agnes), along with many nieces, nephews, extended families and many other loved ones who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Florencio and Juliana; his sister, Cely; his brother-in-law, Roger; and his brother-in-law, Noel.
Rogelio was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and beloved family member whose greatest joy was his family. Throughout his life, he exemplified commitment, hard work, and unwavering love for those closest to him. Rogelio was a sweet, warm and welcoming man.
Rogelio enjoyed a successful career in accounting, where his dedication and professionalism were hallmarks of his work. Yet, as accomplished as he was in his professional life, his most treasured and rewarding role was that of a grandfather “Lolo”.
Nothing brought Rogelio greater happiness than being present in the lives of his grandchildren. Whether babysitting them, attending their games, competitions and dance performances, driving them to and from school and their many activities, or making sure they had their Happy Meals and Mocha Frappes, he found joy in the simple moments spent with them. These everyday gestures, though seemingly small, were his way of showing just how much he loved them. They are the special memories his grandchildren will carry with them forever, reminders of a Lolo who was always there for them, cheering them on, making them smile, and making them feel loved. His grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride, and the time they shared with him will always hold a special place in their hearts.
Rogelio’s life was defined not only by his accomplishments but, more importantly, by the love he gave so freely to his family. His presence, guidance, and steadfast devotion will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created and the love he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be remembered with deep affection, profound gratitude, and enduring love.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A) Norwood on Thursday, October 22nd from 4-8 PM, and again on Friday, October 23rd beginning at 9:30 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood at 11 AM.
