Ruth A. MacLeod, a long-time resident of Norwood, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 80. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger C. MacLeod. Ruth was the loving mother of Scott MacLeod and his wife, Christina, of Duxbury, MA; Heather MacLeod Crowe and her husband, Brian, of Amherst, NH; and the late R. Christopher MacLeod. She was the devoted grandmother of Brady and Aiden (AJ) Crowe. Ruth is also survived by her brother, Stephen Clark, and his wife, Maureen, and by her niece, Abigail. She was deeply devoted to the people she loved – her family, her cousins who were among her closest friends, and dear neighbors who became like family to her.
Ruth was a graduate of Norwood High School with the class of 1963, and continued her education at the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and Northeastern University.
She was an active member of the Norwood Women’s Community Committee and a dedicated advocate for nursing home residents’ rights, testifying to highlight the importance of government and industry funding to maintain adequate levels of patient care.
For 25 years, she was employed as an administrative assistant and office manager for a law office and an insurance agency. Ruth also assisted her husband in their part-time antiques business, buying and selling at local flea markets and antique shows.
Burial will be private for immediate family. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date; the family will share details when available.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood.
