Stephen Moynihan, age 55, passed away suddenly at his home in Norwood, MA on April 13, 2021. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jeanne; one brother and two sisters; his daughter, Shauna; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and pet dog, Teddy. He was preceded in death by his father, Captain Daniel Moynihan of the Boston Police Department, mother Georgette and brother Danny. Stephen was a dedicated husband and loving father. He was an industrious man who worked primarily in construction and once had his own roofing company. He was an avid sports fan of all the Boston teams and frequently wore team apparel. He was also an excellent softball player, a lover of animals and especially loved playing with his grandkids. He had a sense of humor and was fun to be with. He always brought smiles to those around him. He is greatly missed by many who knew and loved him. He was taken from us too soon, and we are reminded of Psalm 39:4 "O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!"

Dad,
Growing up I was confused because our relationship was not what I'd imagined it to be, then in my twenties I felt as if we were growing up together & in my thirties we were recovering together. A life lost too soon but I really do feel you in my heart. I will forever hold the spiritual wisdom you have passed down to me. I will always remember your words, " When you're feeling helpless, help someone. Go do something for one of those boys or get yourself into the garden!" Whenever I would call you would be there to listen, even from a roof top..you wanted to be there for me, and I
know that. I am thankful for that. I would tell you how wild the boys are and you would remind me of how blessed I am. Soon after you passed over I heard the music jumping from speaker to speaker, the power went out three times in a row, giving us enough time to think, is this him saying hi? Maybe letting us know it will all be okay. Music has also played on it's own and it could all be a coincidence, but I am going to keep listening because I have felt these quick moments deeply in my soul. I believe in my heart that you are at peace now. You are loved. You believed in God and often encouraged me to remember that He has a plan, so that's what I am going to do. Until we meet again ❤ Xoxo

Anyone who played a sport or spent time with Steve will know exactly what I’m talking about. The guy was special. Physical talent yes but much more. With Steve there was always a game within or on top of the game. Steve also turned everyday mundane activities into a game, creating a set of rules to follow on the spot. His infectious smile would lure you in. You had to play even though you knew you had no chance to win and he would trash talk you about it for weeks. Steve also partnered with me in one of my favorite sports, routinely pushing all of Brian Tully’s buttons. Steve’s passing brought back so many memories. Saturday afternoon after hours burgerthons at Felicias watching college football. Cruising to Humarock beach in my favorite car, Steve’s delta 88 holiday edition. Miss you Steve

As I go through pictures of all the memories we have had over our 34 years together, I cannot image what my life is going to be like without you. So many good times, laughs and we just simply enjoyed each others company. Friends share good times and laughs, best friends share tears and support during difficult times, family stays, loves and supports each other for eternity and we are all 3. You will remain in my heart and be a part of me forever and I will never forget all of the nice things you have done for me. You were a special person with a heart of gold! Heaven definitely has gained a good soul. Send some angels to watch over me like you always did. I love and miss you and I will always be your girl. ❤️

We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you shall remain
to walk with us throughout our lives,
until we meet again.
So Rest In Peace dear loved one,
and thanks for all you’ve done.
We pray that God has given you
the crown you’ve truly won.

Dear Jeanne and Teddy,

As I sit here across the street from you, I'm still in shock that two weeks ago today, I lost a very dear neighbor. I could never have imagined that the last time I would talk to Steve was when he was rushing off with you to get to his covid vaccine appointment on time.

The pain of losing him so unexpectedly is somewhat eased with all of the fond memories I have of him. Steve really added so much life to the Spruce Rd. neighborhood, and his friendly personality and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed. He certainly never missed an opportunity to have a good laugh like when I dressed up with a beard for the Red Sox, or when I appeared on my driveway dressed up as a witch and was riding a broom. I could always count on Steve to catch my craziest moments on his cellphone camera.

I will always remember Steve as having a generous heart, and someone who was always willing to lend a hand to everyone in the neighborhood. Whenever there was some kind of roof or gutter emergency, everyone always knew who to call. Not to mention, he helped me numerous times by cleaning my gutters and setting mouse traps in my attic.

Jeanne, I hope that you know that Steve always thought of you! Whenever something funny or interesting happened, he would always say, "I'm going to let Jeanne know about this." He also adored Teddy! Teddy was always so comfortable knowing that his buddy was with him. As you know, my dog has always adored both Steve & Teddy because when Max arrived in Norwood, he was greeted by the two of them.

Thank you for sharing your husband with the neighborhood. May all of the warm memories of Steve help you through this very difficult time.

Sincerely,

Peggy Howell (and Max)

Uncle Steve there’s not enough space to share all the memories that I have with you! I’m reading the other memories you have had with other people it just reminds me how special you truly were! I really did touch everyone around you with your smile laughter and kind heart! I will always remember being a child and going through a hard time when my parents got divorced but no matter what every weekend all of that was forgotten because you made sure that your daughter and I had an amazing time filled with activities laughs and adventure! You are one of those people that will never be forgotten you had such a way about you that lit up the room! I will always remember the time that you, I, Jeanne and Shauna went to Six Flags! You guys always spend the time to take us places that we wanted to go! I don’t remember the name of the ride but I remember we got it on video and watched it in Nanas and Papas parler 1 million times! I will always love and miss you uncle Steve and you’ll always be my favorite uncle! Thank you for teaching me how to be a fun and adventurous mother the impact you had on me as a child will stay with me forever I will do my best to always keep your memory alive!
Love
Mandy!

My condolences to the Moynihan family.
Steve, growing up in Readville, you were two years older than me and we spent hours upon hours playing baseball, football and especially basketball together. You were an amazing athlete, creative beyond belief and you made us laugh at each other and most importantly at ourselves! Although there wasn't always a spot for me on whatever team was being selected by "the older kids", you always made me feel included. You were always kind to me even when it wasn't cool to do so. Thank you!

Steve, both our Dad's were police officers and I know you didn't have the benefit of having yours for as long as I did, but I know you loved your daughter with all your heart. I remember the first day you brought her to the park. I could tell you loved her more than anything on earth.
Steve, I'm sorry to see you go so early but thank you for leaving your special mark on the world, as only YOU could have done. You were one of a kind. You will be remembered for your creativity but you'll be missed for your kindness. Thank you!

Steve,
You were a good friend and teammate,
an awesome athlete, and a solid all around person. With your infectious smile and winning personality you were so much fun to be around. I’m certain that you will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives you touched. It didn’t matter what you had in your hand. Be it a baseball bat, hockey stick, or any kind of ball, you made the magic happen. Gonna miss you much.
Rest In Peace, Good Buddy.
