Thomas Francis "Tom" McLoughlin

Of Norwood, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday afternoon, November 8, 2022, at age 88.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Patrick McLoughlin and Beatrice (Gunning) of Dorchester. Thomas attended Sacred Heart Central High School, and was a graduate of Boston College, earning a bachelor’s degree of Science in Environmental Engineering. His professional career as an Environmental Engineer spanned four decades over three state agencies, the majority of which was spent with the Department of Environmental Protection (formerly known as DEQE) where he worked his way up through rank and file to become Deputy Commissioner. His distinguished career in public service culminated with him being named the 1985 recipient of the Manuel Carballo Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service from then Governor Michael Dukakis.

Tom was the beloved husband for 62 years of Helena (Kitchell) McLoughlin. He was the devoted father of Thomas C. Mcloughlin of Norwood, Helena Boccadoro, her husband Joseph of Ashland, Maggie Cignarella of Norwood, George McLoughlin, his wife Diane of Norfolk, Elizabeth Levierge, her husband Jim of Plainville, and Theresa Rosmus, her husband Michael of Portland, Maine. He was the brother of the late James and John McLoughlin. Tom was the proud grandfather of Cheryl-Anne and Anthony Boccadoro; Nikki Murphy and her husband Eddie; AJ and Corey Cignarella; Patrick and Danny McLoughlin; Chris Levierge and his wife Cait; Kristen Levierge; Kitiara and Logan Rosmus; and great-grandfather of Gavin Levierge, Paul Monteiro, Kinsley Murphy, and one more Levierge on the way.
