Tom was born on February 14, 1927 in Boston, MA to Joseph and Edith Pickett. He was called Red by many of his friends. He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Amick DE-168 where he witnessed the Japanese surrender of the Aleutian Islands.
Tom was married for over 65 years to the love of his life, Marian (O’Shea) who preceded him in death by three and a half months. Together they raised four loving children in Norwood. He was a long-time member of the IBEW Local 103 and worked as an electrician for the MBTA. In retirement he enjoyed spending cherished time with his family especially his loving grandchildren.
His family and friends will always remember him as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He was always concerned for the happiness of others. He was kind and good natured.
Survived by his daughters Karen (James) McMaster of Wrentham, Donna (Joe) Waggett of West Chester, PA, Gail (John) Daniels of Norwood, and his loving son Tom Jr of Warren, MI. Proud grandfather of Corinne, Mikayla, Chrissy, Johnny, Ciara. Great grandfather of Siobhan, Joseph, and sister Edith. Uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife, mother and father, his sister Muriel and brother Joseph.
Family and friends are invited to Gillooly Funeral Home in Norwood, MA on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 8:30 to 10:00am for a visitation. A Funeral Mass will follow at a St. Timothy Church, Norwood at 10:30am with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
