Richard was born on June 20, 1926 and passed away on December 3, 2019 at the age of 93. A native of Hartford, CT, Dick Beisel served with the Army Air Force during WWII. In 1945, he married his sweetheart, Dolly. After graduating with a Bachelors degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Ct in 1949, he worked for Recreation and Parks in Caribou, ME and Baltimore County, MD. He also served for many years in the life insurance field in the Baltimore area during which time he earned the Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) designation. After moving to Artemas, PA in 1972, Dick worked at the Cumberland YMCA and as a manager of the LaVale Burger King, during which time he volunteered as the American Legion PA Post 155 Commander for 5 years, before becoming the window clerk at the Frostburg Post Office for 11 years. After retirement, he enjoyed his small farm in Artemas. Dick and Dolly then moved to Harford County, MD, spending winters in North Fort Meyers, FL. They moved to Oak Crest in 2008, where he enjoyed the model railroad club, Bible study, playing the piano, painting, card games and fun times with good friends and family. This October they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary.
He was the beloved husband of Dolena M. “Dolly” Beisel; devoted father of Richard H. Beisel Jr. and Dena M. Adle and her husband Bill; cherished grandfather of Diane M. Nielsen and her husband Peter, Brian R. Beisel and Melissa A. Adle; loving great-grandfather of Katie Crocker, Sarah Crocker, Anna Beisel, Bradley Beisel, Isabelle Gerken, Kodiak Gerken and Sierra Gerken; also survived by his former daughter-in-law Anita Beisel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 1:30 pm in the Oak Crest Chapel, followed by a reception in the Garden Room.
