On January 5, 2025, Alice Foster Paradise passed away peacefully and was welcomed into God’s heavenly kingdom. She was the daughter of Hope and Bill Foster. Born on July 15, 1946, she grew up in Govans, Baltimore City and lived the last 53 years in Fallston, Harford County. She was the beloved wife of James Paradise, a proud mother and hero to her two boys, and described as the epitome of a friend by countless others.
An actively engaged 49 year member of Bel Air United Methodist Church starting with her first position as the assistant Chairperson of Social Concerns, Alice faithfully loved like Jesus throughout her life. She never hesitated to respond when there was someone in need. As one of the blessings of her many years of service in various capacities, Alice made several lifelong friends.
In addition, she enjoyed taking yoga classes at the Fallston Recreation Center and playing bocce - the perfect game for connecting with others and enjoying the moment. One thing that would get her heart racing was watching her sons and grandkids competing in sports. She was their biggest fan! Alice loved to travel and was able to see a lot of the country but some of her most memorable trips were spent cruising on the ocean and zip-lining over the water in the Caribbean islands. A concert with friends on a beautiful summer evening and a dance floor would also put a smile on her face. For Alice, life was truly about the journey and making the most of every opportunity.
She was a graduate of Eastern High School in the Baltimore City class of 1963 and in 1967 graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Chemistry. She started working in the Baltimore City Health Department but spent most of her career as a Medical Technologist in several Baltimore County hospitals.
Alice proved herself to be a dedicated mother and grandmom by loving whole-heartedly and always making those around her feel seen, heard and valued. To desire nothing beyond what you have is the greatest happiness; Alice achieved that and so much more. Her greatest joy was to love and be loved by the people in her life.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, James Paradise, Alice’s light continues to shine through her sons, Andrew Paradise and his wife, Fran; Todd Paradise and his wife, Kim; and three cherished grandchildren, Mason Paradise, Samantha Paradise and McKenzie Paradise.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, Md. 21236 on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 11:00 AM at Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Ave Bel Air, MD. 21014. Following the services a luncheon will be held at the church. A private family burial will be at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bel Air United Methodist Church’s Pass It on Ministry or Senior Food Ministry. Appropriately, the name Alice is often associated with the qualities of kindness, compassion and intelligence —- in the coming days you can honor Alice’s life best by doing an unexpected act of kindness as a reflection of her bright and loving spirit.
