It is with deep regret to announce the passing of Anne Knoll Schmidt. She died on the afternoon of October 27,2020, peacefully in her bed at her condo. She had a very long and good life. Anne was a stay at home mother, until becoming the secretary to the chemistry chairman at Morgan State University. She later retired in 1989. Anne also was an accomplished author. She had 5 books published and several short stories printed in magazines. Mom was married to Frederick Knoll for almost 50 years until he passed away 21 years ago. Two years later she was fortunate to find love again by marrying Charles Schmidt. They had a good six years of marriage until he passed away from lung cancer. Anne remained active and social all through her 80’s and her 90’s. It was the last year and a half whereby her world became very small. She couldn’t see, she was confined to a wheelchair, and she had a mild case of dementia.
At age 96, Anne leaves behind to cherish her memories, her devoted children, Renee Vollerthum, and her late husband John, Frederick “Rick” Knoll,Jr., and his wife Carol, and Robert Knoll, and his wife Brenda; loving grandchildren, Jessica Knoll, and her husband Greg Cortese, Kyle Knoll, Bryan Knoll, and his wife Myndi, Kevin Knoll, Jordan Knoll, and Grant Knoll.
Anne also is survived by her second family the Schmidt’s. She leaves stepchildren John Schmidt and his wife Anne, and the late Lynn Mikulski, and her husband Dick; step grandchildren, Bob Schmidt, and his wife Lizzie, and Christine Schmidt, and her fiancé Landon Heavener; and step great grandchildren, Charlie Schmidt, and Lucy Schmidt.
