Anthony Jude Azzaro Sr.

On October 29, 2024 Anthony J. Azzaro, Sr. passed away. He was the beloved husband of the late, Nancy M. Azzaro (nee Jeppi); devoted father of Maria Ottone and her husband Leonard Ottone, Sr., and the late Anthony Azzaro, Jr.; loving Pop of Christina, Leonard Jr. and Dominic Ottone and the late Nicholas Seltzer; great-pop of Isabella, Dylan, Olivia, Kendall, Antonia and Gianna Ottone and William Egge.

Anthony began his work career as a teenager at the Matricciani Company, the largest underground utility contractor in the Baltimore area at the time. He taught himself how to estimate jobs and learned about the office side of the business. He eventually went to work with his friend Jack Cossentino. He was a VP of the company and ran the estimating department. He had an impeccable reputation for his honesty and thoroughness. He was in the business for almost 70 years. Anthony was a dedicated husband, father, family member, friend and co-worker. He was proud of his Italian heritage and was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge as well as the Utility Contractors Association. Everyone who knew him loved him. He was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends will gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham MD 21236, on Saturday & Sunday, November 2 & 3, 2024, 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Church. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Leo the Great Church, 227 S. Exeter St., Baltimore MD 21202.
