Aspacia Tellis Vlangas

September 4, 1934October 11, 2021

Aspacia Tellis Vlangas (“Cia,” “Sweetie”) passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021. Aspacia was born and raised in Winchester VA and graduated from John Handley High School. She worked for years at her mother’s Apple Blossom restaurant and moved to Baltimore after marrying the love of her life, Alex. Over the course of her marriage, she often returned to Winchester, which she considered “God’s Country” to visit and celebrate with friends and family. She enjoyed over sixty years of marriage with Alex, raising her family and running The Chesapeake Deli in Towson, MD from 1977 to 1997. A consummate hostess, Aspacia loved inviting family and friends to her home for dinners and parties. These gatherings were always filled with laughter, conversation, and good food. She enjoyed special friendships with Alex’s colleagues and wives from Towson University as well as family members joined by marriages. A life-long parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, she raised her family in the faith and Greek traditions. Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved being surrounded by them during beach vacations and holiday meals. She was unassuming, kind, and deeply generous of her time and energy. She was dedicated to those in need and extended herself to comfort others. She will be deeply missed.

Aspacia was predeceased by her mother and father, Helen Sempeles Sigros and Tellis James Sigros, her husband, Alexander Vlangas, her brother, James Tellis Sigros and sister, Betty Jones. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Demus, (Hamilton, OH) and children, James, Loren Dee, and Eleni, sister-in-law, Helen Gretes (Baltimore, MD) and her sons, John and William, and sister-in-law Vicky Sigros (Washington, DC) and her children, Melanie and Tellis. She was the beloved mother of Georgan Flavell (Mark), Helen Brown, and William Vlangas (Jennifer) and the devoted grandmother ("Yiayia") of Magdalene, Aspacia, Savvas, and Alexandra Pantelides and Alexander and Aspacia Vlangas.

A funeral service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery Chapel, 5917 Windsor Mill Rd., Baltimore MD 21207, Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00. Interment will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ma Maison 840 South Bond Street, Baltimore, MD 21231.
