Barbara Jean Akers

Barbara Jean Akers, age 74, resident of Kings Mountain, North Carolina died January 23,2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice House.

She was born in Yancy Co, NC to the late James Horne and Virginia Harris Horne. She was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother,

grandmother and great grandmother.

She was the beloved wife of Hixon E. Akers; devoted mother of Deb Matthew and her husband Lenny of Kings Mountain, NC, and Larry Skidmore, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Baltimore, MD; loving grandmother of Nicole Scism and Michael, Lenny Matthew, Jr., Danny Skidmore and Kelly, Rachel Brown and Jason, and eight great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9PM, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
