Betty is the daughter of the late Hazel (nee Burgee) and Virgil Calp; devoted mother of Dale Green and Shannon Green; mother-inlaw to Michelle Green with whom she shared a special bond; cherished grandmother of Dylan Smith; sister to the late Linda Chenoweth and the surviving Sharon Holloman, Barbara Ittner, and Gail Suter.
A woman ahead of her time, Betty was truly one of a kind. Strong-willed and independent. she lived life on her own terms and knew her worth. She was a woman of remarkable strength and determination, raising her children as a single mother and working tirelessly to ensure they had everything they needed. She dedicated much of her professional life to working in Human Resources within the LifeBridge Healthcare system, beginning at Baltimore County General Hospital and continuing through Northwest Hospital and Sinai Hospital. Though she took great pride in her work, her greatest accomplishment was always her children. She shared a bond with her sisters, cherishing their movie nights, glasses of wine, and conversations around the fire.
Betty also knew the importance of enjoying life and making time for herself. An avid traveler, she explored destinations both near and far, with adventures taking her to Greece, Switzerland, Ireland, and beyond. She had a beautiful smile and was endlessly creative, finding joy in crocheting, quilting, and crafting, and was a voracious reader who could lose herself in a book of just about any genre. Above all, Betty was unapologetically herself: proud, spirited, funny, and full of love. She will be missed by all who knew her.
