

Brian W. Norris 75, passed peacefully on the morning of September 5, 2025, at the Delaware Hospice Center surrounded by his wife Linda Bradley Norris and son Colin B. Norris. Born May 19, 1950, he spent his youth in Perry Hall, MD, and graduated from Perry Hall High School in 1968.
Brian was a voracious reader and writer, and used these skills to obtain a journalism/public relations degree from the University of Maryland in 1972. Thereafter, he served in the United States Coast Guard in Washington, DC from 1972-1976 as a Public Affairs Specialist where he worked on the first Tall Ships Event for the Bicentennial of 1976.
His love of country continued with a career in government service. It spanned many agencies including: Peace Corps/Vista; the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the Foreign Agricultural Service; and the National Agricultural Library. He retired in 2005 from the National Wildlife Service as Regional Director of Public Affairs in Minnesota.
He adored the outdoors and would take frequent early morning hikes through the forested nature trails of Northern Baltimore County. He loved the game of lacrosse which he played in high school and college, and started a lacrosse pick-up club for old lacrosse players in Baltimore County. There were extended motorcycle trips with friends and he also enjoyed the quiet work of collecting and restoring pocket knives as well as creating leather knife sheaths.
He married the love of his life, Linda in 1972. They raised two sons, Colin B. Norris and Owen W. Norris. Brian is preceded in death by his parents, George G. Norris and Anna R. Norris, and his son, Owen W. Norris. He is survived by son Colin B Norris and wife Sarah Acconcia; brother Wayne G. Norris and wife Dottie Britton; sister Lynn Norris and husband William Long; and sister Donna Norris Koltuniak and husband Robert Koltuniak, along with many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held.
