On June 25, Byron G. “Barney” Ivins, Maryland Oldtimers Soccer Hall of Famer and retired operations manager at the Eastern Avenue Pumping Station for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works, lost his battle with colon cancer. He was 68. He is survived by seven loving children: Brian Ivins, Beth (nee Ivins) Kelly, Scott Ivins, Christopher Ivins, Timothy Ivins, Katelyn Ivins, and Jennifer Ivins. He is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham, MD 21236, on Monday June 30, 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Abbott Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3426 Bank Street, Baltimore, MD 21224.
