Dennis "Otis" Woodward

On Thursday May 9, 2013, Denny "Otis" Woodward of Perry Hall passed away with his loving family by his side. Dennis Carroll Woodward was born to the late George and Grace Woodward of Highlandtown, and graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1966. Otis is well known and respected in the soccer community from his professional career with the Washington Diplomats and Baltimore Bays as well as his 20 year-long coaching career with St. Elizabeth's in East Baltimore. Denny was also a referee in the MISL in the 1980's. Dennis worked for nearly 45 years for the City of Baltimore as a municipal employee. Otis is survived by his two sons, Derek and Trevor Woodward, his wife Beverly Woodward, all of of Perry Hall, his five grandchildren, Emily, Aidan, Lela, Ruby and Jack, his sister, Nancy Rachuba, his brothers, William and Robert Woodward. Otis is predeceased by his brother George Woodward.

Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham MD 21236, on Friday May 17, 2013, from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 2836 E. Baltimore St., Baltimore MD 21224, on Saturday May 18, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Following the Memorial Mass their will be a gathering of friends and family at The Gunpowder Lodge, 10092 Belair Rd., Kingsville MD 21087.
