On October 16, 2026, Dolores E. West (nee Schwartzhaupt) passed away. She was the beloved wife of the late Leroy M. “Lee” West, Sr.; devoted father of Leroy M. West, Jr. and his wife Pat, Nancy Nickel and her husband Michael, Deidre Meissinger and her husband William, and Cynthia Smith and her husband Timothy; cherished grandmother of Carly, Stacey, Michael, Katlin, Tim, Joseph, and the late William; loving great-grandmother of Savannah, Michael “Deano”, Parker, Jack, Maverick, Grayson, Max, and Jason; beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Schwartzhaupt; dear sister of Margaret, Patricia, Frederick, and the late Emily, Kathryn, Rosalie, and Edward; she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dolores’ name to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, 380 Knollwood St., Suite H #125, Winston Salem, NC 27103, (www.curethekids.org), in memory of her late grandson William.
