

On October 18, 2024 Dorothy Carrie Decker (nee Kerr) passed away in her home of 82 years after a battle with dementia and a short fight with cancer. She has been taken to the Lord and met with open arms at the gates of Heaven by her parents Joseph & Carrie, brother Michael Donald (Hayward) and husband of 55 years James Thomas Decker, Jr. Dorothy is survived by her brother Lawrence J. Hayward and his wife Ann, sister-in-law Teresa (Michael), her children Michelle Muth, and her husband Thomas, James L., and his wife Kathleen, and Matthew Thomas. Her grandchildren Stephen Thomas Muth, and his wife Kelsie, Emily Carrie Eberwein, and her husband Colin, Karaline Carrie (Decker) and her husband Jhonson Cardona, and Sarah Elizabeth. Great-grandchildren Grayson Joseph Muth and Brooks Thomas Eberwein and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a kind hearted and loving person a faithful disciple of Christ and an active member and employee of Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church. Dorothy was an animal lover all her life from her first cat Fluffy as a young girl until the 3 cats she leaves behind too soon. There was always at least one cat under her care. She loved her work at Abacus Corp. and Leonard Paper Company. A very passionate bingo yeller and lottery player. But she loved to travel more than anything whether it was chasing jackpots in Las Vegas or sitting on the beach all day until after the sun went down, people watching on the OC boardwalk and ocean terrace porch or cruising the high seas she lived her life to the fullest and now she may rest in peace and travel the world as she pleases.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:30 AM, at Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church, 2854 Brendan Ave. Baltimore, MD 21213. Interment services will follow at Most Holy Redeemer cemetery in Baltimore. If you desire, in lieu of flowers please make donations in Dorothy's name to either the American Cancer Association or BARCS animal rescue and shelter.
