Doug Michael Banks, age 73, passed away on January 24, 2022. He was born on November 16, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Earl Monroe Banks, Jr. and the late Donna Lou (Wright) Banks. On March 9th, 1979, he married his beloved wife Susan Mary Banks.
After graduating from Catonsville High School, in 1966, he attended the University of Baltimore. His career centered on automotive services starting as a co-owner of a B.P. Station in Catonsville and a co-owner of Budget Tire in both Perry Hall and Catonsville.
In his younger years Doug was a very accomplished athlete, excelling in bowling, which took him on tournaments throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. He also played baseball, basketball, softball, and golf throughout his life. Both he and Susan enjoyed skiing together, and, in fact, a Baltimore Ski Club trip to West Virginia was where they met. Later in life, he adored spending time with his four grandchildren who fondly called him Pop.
Doug was a devoted father of Corey T. Banks and his wife Gretchen, Jason T. Banks and his wife Jen, and Jessica M. Banks and her partner Matthew Rodgers; cherished Pop of grandchildren Liam, Hannah, Ava, and Emilia; dear brother of Duane J. Banks. Doug is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews as well as his sister-in-law Jackie Haynes, her husband Don, and his brother-in-law John Turwy, and his wife Donna.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc. located at 9705 Bel Air Road, Nottingham Maryland, 21136 on February 3rd, 2022, from 3 to 5 PM & 7 to 9 PM where a memorial service will begin at 7:30 PM. Interment private.
