Edith Faye Taylor DeMarco (Edie), 98, of Parkville, MD passed peacefully Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, MD. Edith was a resident of Oak Crest Village in Parkville since 2012 and a Baltimore area resident since the early 1940s.
Edith was born in Sugar Grove, Virginia on September 19, 1922 she had one sister and five brothers, all have predeceased her. All were born to the late Hiram and Dora Taylor. Edith lived a long and full life. She attended Radford College in her hometown of Radford, Virginia. She moved to the Baltimore area with a childhood girlfriend in 1943. Edith worked at Martin Marietta where she met her future husband, S. Joseph DeMarco. She took time off from work to raise her two sons. She returned to work when her sons were in their teens and worked until retirement led her to many years of volunteer work at the Baltimore County Senior Craft Gallery, a volunteer-led consignment outlet for the sale of art and handcrafts produced by senior adults in Baltimore County. She was the Bookkeeper for many of her volunteer years. Edith’s passion was making artificial flower arrangements which she did for well over 20 years, into her 90s. She sold her arrangements word of mouth to hundreds of folks in the Baltimore area and at the Gallery. While the Gallery was her constructive passion, travel with her husband, family and many friends was her other passion. Edith traveled and sailed to many countries around the world to experience all that life would offer.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joe, who passed January 27, 2012. She is survived by her two sons, Michael DeMarco (Marie) and Robert DeMarco (Linda), two step grandchildren, Wallace Sneeden, and Amy DeMarco Robinson and three great grandchildren, Kahlan Sneeden, Zachary Robinson and Fiona Robinson.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Church (Hydes) at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery.
