Betty Jenkins (nee Koerner), died Friday, March 10, 2023, following a stroke. She was 88. Betty lived in West Twin River near Chase, Maryland. She was the daughter of George and Anna Koerner and sister to Mary Bode, Gerry Mince and her husband George, and her late brother Charles Koerner and his late wife Jackie. She attended St. Elizabeth of Hungary elementary school and, in 1952, graduated from The Catholic High School. In 1955, Betty married George (Jinx) Jenkins (who would later become a Deacon at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Middle River) and had three sons: Mark and his late wife Denise, of Davidsonville, Maryland, Tom and his late wife Annette of Atlanta, Georgia, and Eric and his wife Laura of Baltimore, Maryland. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Christopher Jenkins, Lauren Scaduto and her husband Brian, Ryan Jenkins and his wife Danielle, Evan Jenkins, and Erin Jenkins and her fiance Kevin Harrison, and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Daniel, Tristan, and Sawyer. She was a loving and supportive mother who inspired her sons to succeed in their chosen careers. In many ways that extended to her own career: In the early-1970s, she worked full-time and, simultaneously, earned an accounting degree from the Community College of Baltimore. Soon after graduating, she became an auditor with the State of Maryland's Office of the Comptroller. For more than twenty years, she traveled within Maryland and to the forty-eight contiguous states auditing companies that conducted business in Maryland. Both Governors William D. Schaefer and Parris Glendening honored Betty for her exemplary service. She was a vibrant, independent, and spunky woman who could make everyone laugh with her witty asides. She excelled at card playing, baking and bargain hunting. Betty was known as "The Cab Driver" because she could tell you the cross streets and block numbers for almost any street in Baltimore and then drive you there with what many considered a heavy foot.
