Baltimore, MD – 1923 – 2018. Evelyn Josephine Whitley Adams, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2018. Evelyn was born on April 9, 1923 in Baltimore and was a graduate of Patterson Park High School. She was the third of six children of Henry Grant and Lillian Grace Whitley. Her siblings were Lillian Jensen, William Whitley, Thelma Schenk, Doris Besserer, and Jean Manti.
Evelyn married Charles F. Adams in 1943 and raised three sons. She loved family and was a friend to all. Her faith in God was constant and strong. Evelyn enjoyed travel, reading, cooking, sewing, and collecting antiques and dolls. She also volunteered often, including at Montebello State Hospital and the nursery at St. Thomas More Church.
Evelyn is pre-deceased by her husband Charles, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her sons and their spouses: Charles W. and Mary Ellen Adams, Craig G. and Gayle J. Adams, Chris S. and Christy A. Adams. Evelyn is also survived by six grandchildren: Allison J. and Dean Miniacci, Amy J. Adams and James Pfister, Alicia J. and Joseph Hamburg, Arlene J. and David Wheeler, Stephen C. Adams, and Laura K. Adams. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Angelina, Serafina, Gabriel, Gaige, Landyn, and Lillyann, as well as many loving nephews, nieces, godchildren, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 9215 Old Harford Rd. on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at 9:30 am, followed by interment at Moreland Cemetery, 2901 Taylor Ave., Parkville.
